2010 Volvo XC60, Newest Styling Trend and Safety Features from Volvo

Volvo is a medium size premier car manufacturer in Sweden with a production of around 400,000 cars per year. Unfortunately the volume of its manufactured cars was not enough to hold up the company and that was when Volvo industrial group, the mother company, decided to sell the car division to Ford in 1998 for $6.42 Billion USD. Volvo industrial has used the money in financing further its truck business.

Build in Ghent, Belgium, the 2010 Volvo XC60 has been on sale in Europe since fall, 2008. Volvo lately brought a fleet of European-spec prototype to Sausalito, California, just north of San Francisco, for the press to observe and drive.

Combination the existing XC90 and XC70, the 2010 Volvo XC60 introduces the newest styling trend and safety features from Volvo. Standard cabin amenities contain HD radio, Sirius satellite radio, and connectivity for audio players via a mini-jack or USB port.

City Safety make its first appearance as standard equipment in all 2010 Volvo XC60s. It works at speeds under 19 mph (30 kph), and can stop the car if the speed differential between the City Safe-equipped Volvo and the cars in front is less than 9 mph (15 kph).

The typical DSTC stability and traction control system has been enhanced by monitoring roll rate to identify incipient problems earlier. Peak torque is available from 1500 rpm onwards, production the 6-speed automatic transmission’s job easier.

Of the three engines available from start on next week, two 2.4-litre, five-cylinder diesel units which are tuned to offer either 163PS or 185PS for the D5 requirement and a 3.0-litre, straight-six 285PS petrol, the two oil-burners will take almost all the XC60 sales.

The diesel units sound a slight ‘course’ or ‘gruff’ and produce vibrations which transfer to the pedals and steering wheel. The latest German or French diesel power units are more advanced.

For the evidence the two five-cylinder diesel engines officially deliver 37.7mpg on the combined fuel cycle when fitted with standard six-speed manual transmissions, and emit 199 g/km of CO2. The British-built T6 petrol engine returns 23.7mpg by 284g/km of CO2.
