2012 Audi A6

Audi will exercise a lightweight steel and aluminum construction on its all new-A6 sedan, which is claimed to be 15 percent lighter than an ordinary steel-made car. The construction will be applied on its front fenders, rear hatch, doors, hood, and certain suspension components. Compared to its previous version, the new 2012 Audi A6 appears about the same size, but enhances its wheelbase by 2.7 in. (to 114.6) and its width by 0.4 in. (to 73.4), improving its overall dimension. The 3,472-pounds-car presents an aggressive posture accenting on its sculpted roofline, marked hood and notched headlights.

Audi provides diverse gasoline and diesel options designed for Europe. The most powerful engine utilizes the supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 offering 300 hp and 325 ft-lbs of torque. Engineered with the blown six-scheme, Audi claims the car can accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.5 seconds. Also, an engine option is equipped with a revised 2.0-liter turbo diesel, pronounced to be 13 percent more efficient than the earlier version of 2.0 TDI. Audi pronounces the sedan can speed up to 100 km/h in 8.7 sec supported by engine of 177 hp and 280 ft-lbs of torque. It offers fantastic sensation of speed to the fans of diesel. The A6 version equipped with TDI four-cylinder is predicted fails across Atlantic.

Improvements are also obvious on its drive train. They increase the wheelbase and axle load distribution by pushing forward the front axle. The Quattro version tries to integrate selective torque-vectoring by utilizing the latest repetition of the crown-gear differential, and presenting a solid, lightweight design (with 40:60 ratio of front to rear split). Higher speed is optimized by wide-spread gear ratios.

Audi will initiate sales of an A6 Hybrid early 2012, equipped with the 211-hp 2.0 TFSI engine and a 45-hp electric motor. This engine will help the A6 Hybrid to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.3 sec. Audi claims this Hybrid version has fuel efficiency compared to a conventional four-cylinder. Though limited to a range of 3 kilometers (1.9 miles), the car can speed up to 62 mph in its full electric mode.

The 2011 Audi A6 records its initial sales in Europe in early 2011, with the upcoming deliveries to U.S. in the late summer or early fall.
