Previously, GM has introduced the concept of this car back in August under the name Cadillac BRX. However, after through certain considerations, this newest Cadillac will come with the name the 2010 Cadillac SRX. When you first see the car, you might feel that it is a familiar model. It is because; the revealed car designed in August is almost the same with the finished product.
GM will once again show the 2010 Cadillac SRX in the Detroit Automotive Show by the end of December 2009. The car comes with several enhanced technologies inside, but the size will be smaller than the previous model that the SRX is going to replace. GM made some changes in this Cadillac, such as eliminating the 3rd row seat, cargo capacity as well as rear-wheel drive system. In return to these eliminations, the 2010 Cadillac SRX will come with a fuel-efficiency features and some other brilliant ones.
The SRX assimilates some elements that we commonly find in the Epsilon mid-size car. This thing is in accordance with the Theta Premium platform. Some other cars that use the Theta architecture bases are the 2010 GMC Terrain and Chevrolet Equinox. At this moment, you will not find the hybrid version of the 2010 Cadillac SRX. However, GM might launch this edition soon or later.
There are two types of engines that as the power sources of the SRX. The first one is the 2.8I Turbocharged V6 and the other is the 3.0I WT E85 engine V6. The 2.8I can generate up to 260 horsepower at around 6950 rpm. This power can deliver 221-pound feet of torque at the 5600 rpm. While the 3.0I generates higher power up to 300 horsepower at 5500rpm, in which you can expect to get 295-pound feet of torque at the estimated 1850 rpm. Six speed automatic transmissions of the Hydra-Matic 6T70 support the transmission system for both engines.
According to GM, the 3.0I E85 engine with its 260 horsepower has been success to generate 5% more power compared to the previous model. Besides that, in term of fuel economy feature, this newest edition is capable to save 15% fuel energy, compared to the old one with 10% only.
In the navigation system, GM offers two systems available for the 2010 Cadillac SRX, which are the all-wheel and the front-wheel drives. Both models already have an excellent grip controls. However, if you expect to have something more, you can refer to the AWD model, which is considered as advanced because it is also equipped with the rear ELSD element. With this AWD model, the car will automatically transfer up to 100% of torque directly to its wheels when the road is wet or icy. Therefore, you can expect a better traction system on the winter season. Besides that, the system also gives a stabile car control when it runs on high-speed.
You can expect luxurious features in the 2010 Cadillac SRX. GM can be proud with the pop-up navigation system that they implement in the car. The navigation system is even similar to the one that we find in the CTS. In the interior, you will get a hand- sewn leather cover. If you want to bring a home theater experience into your car, you can custom your car with a dual-screen entertainment system at the rear part. While from the exterior, there are some eye-catching parts that make the Cadillac looked stunning, such as 18-20 inch wheels, vertical headlights, chrome fender vents and etc.
