There is a significant turning point in the automotive industry in 2009. One of the reasons will be the bankruptcy protection over GM (General Motors) as well as Chrysler. In order to survive, these two American automotive icons try to take the paid tax money as much as they can. Otherwise, they must face a worse dim future. Fortunately, they can still survive, but under a tremendous altered condition that they might never anticipate before.
The definite alteration will certainly be the changing portfolio of General Motors that includes the dismissing of thousands of its employees as well as some of its product range, such as Saturn, Hummer, Saab and Pontiac. On the other hand, Fiat bought Chrysler. Soon after taking over Chrysler, this Italian automaker conducted by Sergio Marchionne as its Chief executive, are now ready to launch their newest product in the next summer.
While GM and Chrysler are still struggling to survive in the upcoming years, Ford appears to be a very tough contender that can survive without the aid from the US Government. Ford even declined the offer so that the fund can go to GM and Chrysler. They realize that in order to maintain a good automotive supply network, their counterparts must be able to revive. If there is no sufficient supply network to run the whole industry, Ford will also go down soon or later. Ford has been launching their newest products in a full speed into the automotive market, such as Taurus, flex and fusion.
According to Yahoo! Autos, the first and second positions in the top five car manufactures in 2009 are Toyota and Honda. Toyota gets the success by their new products, such as the 2010 Toyota Prius, while Honda is still with its sales stronghold products, such as Accord and Civic. Throughout the victory, they had faced a tough downtrend in the past year that forced them to quit the racing, such as Formula 1. They had to undergo this decision in order to save up their cash flow and to be able to expand their new products faster.
In the third, fourth and fifth positions will be Ford, Nissan and BMW respectively. In the fourth position, Nissan also got an impact from the global economical crisis. However, they managed to survive under a great leadership of Carlos Ghosn as the CEO, while the others must surrender to the financial crisis. In the fifth position, BMW is continuous to invent the newest and magnificent cars, such as The Grand Turismo 535i version. The good thing is that consumers give great responses to almost of BMW’s new inventions. Nissan and BMW are ready to conquer 2010 with their ultimate product range.
In term of the most favorite and searched individual models, some of American made cars are still too tough to defeat. Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro remain in the top 10. Somehow, along with the increase of patrol price, more consumers are more interested to fuel-efficient cars that make some models keeps floating in popularity, such as mini cooper, Honda civic and smart for two.
